    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Fantastic experience with a huge company. Work slightly monotonous but didn't get in the way of a superb year.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Made feel welcome and integral to the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Management and team support was always given on request. Very supportive of personal needs and some team members went out their way to help my development and understanding of the team / my role.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday were very busy but tailed off on Thursday's / Friday's.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Although simplistic after learning them the routines were valuable to the team and the running of day to day operations.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Invaluable experience gained in many platforms and an excellent certificate gained to allow me to back up my CV / experience.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Other teams were very lively, ours often worked from home therefore it was often a quiet part of the office. Friendly enough and could always join in over the divide to the next rows of employees.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • A work in progress for future students to become even better but overall was very accommodating and smooth training / transition periods.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given additional training in SAP but feel like more could have been pushed at the students. Financial climate and timescale perhaps dictates the courses available.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    Healthcare from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Although my team is being relocated many students do return to HP and I would not hesitate at a chance to do so in the future.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I made good friends over the year but could have been more lively / interactive outside the workplace.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cafe was quite expensive but that is because the plant is out the way. Local shops and food outlets are accessible on lunch breaks with a short 5 minute drive.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Unless you go into Glasgow there is no nightlife in Erskine. I lived at home so was not a problem for me.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Charity events are an integral part to the student work therefore there was ample opportunity to get involve out of office hours. Even in office hours.

    4/5
