    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It has been a fantastic 6 weeks and one of the best experiences that I could have had. I have been heavily involved within the team, learning new things all of the time and networking with a variety of people. There are so many opportunities within this internship and I would definitely recommend it.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was quickly made part of the team and had the support of an allocated people manager and buddy. I was involved involved in social events, and treated as a real part of the team. On my final day I was even given some gifts, which showed how valued I was.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My buddy provided me with fantastic support throughout the internship. He guided me through all of the processes of the firm and my line of service. He was always there to answer any questions that I had. My people manager was also fantastic in arranging opportunities for me, such as shadowing a director.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I always had the right amount of work to do, and I was never bored. Whenever tasks were sparing I was able to work on my Dragons Den project, which was great to do. I was able to easily approach anyone in the team and ask them for any work they needed doing. The deadlines for all pieces of work that I was set, were easily manageable.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility given as before I started I thought it would be mainly admin work. I was able to sit in on important client calls, go to meetings and fill in forms for asignees.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Everything I have learnt has been extremely useful and I can take these experiences onwards to university. My time management and organsation skills have been improved, but above all my condifence of approaching people and taking on tasks. I think one of the biggest experiences has been with the Dragons den challenge where I got to use my innovative and entreprenuerial skills. I was even fortunate enough to get through to the final stage, where I was able to present in front of a panel of top BBC executives.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Fantastic atmosphere, where I got along with everyone in the office. I was easily able to approach anyone and ask for help or assistance if I needed it.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Before the internship I was worried about the work I would be doing and how I would settle in. PwC have an induction programme for the first week, with three days being spent at a country house. This was a brilliant experience as I was able to intereact with the other interns and get some teaching of what I was going to be doing. The rest of the internship was very structured with progression occuring each week and new opportunities unfolding.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm ensured that I was well prepared and developed through the internship. They offered development days and lots of time to improve my performance.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been offered a job, so the future employment prospects look good.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene at the country house event was fantastic and it has also been good in the office.Unfortunately I was based in the East Midlands office where the social scene is limited but I had several trips to Birmingham, where there was a great social experience.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Nothing too expensive.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • In East Midlands it was very poor but when I worked in Birmingham it was brilliant.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Appart from the few social events after work there was much to get involved in. If there was the opportunity of an outside the work sports team that would have been good.
