    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship is a challenging but very enjoyable time to me. The schedule is very tight and you have to be flexible all the time during the working weeks (especially with the Assurance department). However, the programme is very well structured with full of events throughout the 6 weeks of the internship. Overall, it's such a great exeperience not only in terms of career perspective but also my own personal development.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone in my audit team is very friendly and helpful. They are willing to coach me with every single audit work that I was assigned. I can clearly see supports from my senior people all the time and it really helps me build up my confidence over the weeks.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Like what I mentioned above, I am always supported by my supervisors and senior managers. At the end of each audit work, I received the feedback for my performance that really helped me to know my strength, weakness and key development points

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Except for the last week, I was kept busy all the time with different tasks. It can range from the simpliest task to a more challenging one. The best bit is the opportunities to communicate with my senior clients and discuss with them the audit work. I felt like I was really a part of the team !

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • 4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed a lot in terms of both technical knowledge and soft skills. The daily job is never the same and I never stayed in my comfort zone so everyday is a new challenge which I fully enjoy and appreciate.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone in the office is always friendly and willing to help you with everything, even with the most silly question like how to add a printer. I mostly spent my time working in client sites but a few last days in the office is very fun and chilling. You can always find someone to talk or ask for advice not only about the job but also about the future career. I even spent 2 days sitting next to my partner and it was a great chance for me to shadow him and learnt a lot from observing what he did on a daily basis.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It's perfect. We had a tight working schedule but all the people in charge always made sure we enjoyed the programme and had fun! It was well structured from the beginning when we stayed together in Latimer House for 3 Induction Days until the last day. We got the Buddy and the People Manager who always cared about our performance and progress. They were also people whom I could ask any questions about the organization.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • PwC is most famous for its future employment prospect within the organization. They support their employees with the ACA qualification and give their employees room to develop. It's also very flexibile as well in terms of transfering location/ department. I was based in East Midlands but then managed to transfer to Birmingham without any difficulty.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • We were based in an industrial area so there's not much to do in the surrounding area. However, wherever I had time to work in Birmingham office, it was always a fun time. We went for a drink every Friday afternoon and it was a great time to do some social networking in a very informal way.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
