The Role
I worked on many different parts of the project and enjoyed some parts much more than others. For instance I enjoyed working on a construction site much more than working in the office.
Most of the people I worked with were very friendly and helped me get involved with other people on the project, especially my line manager.
My line manager was very helpful throughout my placement and worked hard to find me work to do.
Towards the beginning of the placement I had several days when I was not given work to do so I had to find ways to fill the time. However, once the people around me understood that they could trust me enough to share their workloads then I was very busy.
The large majority of the work I did, did not require any responsibility, however on occassion I was given a task that was completely reliant on me and my supervisors trusted me to complete it.
My knowledge of both office and site based engineering has increased a lot. So has my understanding of management skills that are so vital to project management
The Company
People are polite and talkative
I only found out where my placement was two weeks before it had began. Also I had been told it would be in another part of the country. I had also been told I could claim for travel expenses which turned out to be false. All this is down to the organisation by HR or training. However the training department of the company did organse tasks for each of us to complete on our placement which proved beneficial. Once I joined my project my line manager worked very hard to organise my placement.
The company organsed tasks for each of us to complete on our placement which proved beneficial and enabled me to see other aspects of the project I was working on. They also communicated with me at various points of my placement to ensure everything was going well.

I would definitely work with this company again as the work is interesting and the promotion prospects are very good.
The Culture
I have not socialized with other placement students but we are all spread out on different project around the country.
Due to the fact that I was not told where I was going to be living until a couple of weeks before I started, it was hard to find affordable accomodation.
I did not go out in the area I was working in.
