The Role
I was placed with a manage who let me focus business areas of my interest.
Most of my colleagues have valued me.
Good support when available but managers can often be pre-occupied.
This really did vary, however more work or extra support was available if asked for.
A great deal of autonomy was placed on myself and I was allowed to explore areas I was interested in.
This scheme has a brilliant focus on your skills development. Workshops and off site trips were run that weren't just focus on your Boots career but developing you as an individual. My manager was also focused on what skills I needed in my job and for my career.
The Company
I was placed into a speciffic part of the company, however this office was always fun, helpful and most importantly friendly.
Would have been seamless however we were the first year intake. I am confident that this will have been improved for next years intake.
A lot was spent on developing you as an individual. Extensive training on all development areas was offered.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
This programme acts as a potential opportunity to achieve a place on their graduate scheme or general employment.
The Culture
We stuck together as a great group.
Lived in a nicer area of Nottingham (West Bridgford) which is highly advised!!! (some friends on our placement living in other areas had some trouble). Still many student areas and deals to live cheaply :)
Get to know some locals! they will show you the ropes!!! Nottingham is an amazing night out. Plenty of variety out in town!!!! (Go BarBar!)
I was able to get involved in many opportunities outside of work that helped me stand out and feel good about myself. These included charity opportunities, mentoring senior leaders on the digital world and sports clubs. My manager and Boots do tend to encourage this sort of behaviour.
