    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed this placement and it gave me a great insight into the industry which i have always wanted to work in. The people were great and Edinburgh was a fantastic city to work in.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was given a lot of responsibilities for the start of the placement right to the end. Everyone i worked with were really helpful and didn't mind spending time with me when i needed extra help

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • For the first week or so i was reading a lot and getting to know the in's and out's of the job. After that i was given a lot to do but there were only a few days where i was struggling for time.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • By the middle of my placement I was doing the same jobs as the graduate from last year was doing!!!

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am studying accounts and finance so this has helped my for my final year studies. The placement also gave me an idea and understanding for my dissertation. I have accepted a job with Mercer starting in september therefore the training i received will help me greatly when i start as a real graduate trainee.

  • Most people got on really well but everyone was there to do a job!

  • Very organised from the induction in week 1 to the end day in London

  • I was given enough training for the jobs i was doing

  • very appealing. i have accepted graduate job with mercer starting in September

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • i was the only placement student in the Edinburgh investment consultant branch

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living and socialising is expensive in Edinburgh. The salary did cover the expense though

  • Really good - lovely bars and pubs. Some good nightclubs too
