    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the internship programme. The business area that I was involved in was thoroughly interesting, incorporating a wide range of products. I found myself constantly learning new things on a daily basis, even down to the very last week, and I would definitely return to this industry and moreso to this company as a place to work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • 3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had a good range of projects to work on, as well as a group project and a fundraising project to run alongside the programme. A combination of these gave me a very good balance of workload to keep me consistently busy at a comfortable level.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • 3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The very good balance of workload mentioned above allowed me to put my time management skills to the test and develop these within a workplace environment. The various networking opportunities that arose throughout the programme allowed me to improve my communication skills and to learn how they can be adapted according to interactions with different levels of management.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere within the team was very welcoming. People were all very approachable and always willing to assist with questions/queries and help me new learn new things. I was made to feel included in general discussion on a regular basis.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall general structure of the programme was very good; however certain evening/social events could have been organised/set-up in a much better fashion, both logistically and with regards to diary requirements of the business.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The training provided at the beginning of the programme was very thorough and very beneficial. However after this, there were few training opportunities available during the programme and any training or learning done during the programme on a daily basis was all self-driven by interns ourselves.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The organisation has a very appealing and well-structured two-year Graduate Scheme, which I have every intention of applying to, as I would like to return to the company as part of the scheme.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Other interns and colleagues were always willing to attempt to organise social events outside of the business in more causal settings, which was always a nice chance to get a break from the intensity of the programme.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Being based in the City of London, living and socialising costs in the working area were rather high, especially for us as students.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Being in Central London meant that the nightlife was very good. There were plenty of bars, pubs and restaurants all within the local vicinity of the office, and these generally had a fairly good atmosphere on most nights of the week.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were opportunities, however these were mainly organised through the company and therefore technically still linked to work.
