    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed working at Citi this summer, the people are definitely one of the best things about working at Citi. The work was enjoyable - at times I was busier than others and the work is definitely challenging.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The people that I worked with on both rotations were great. I felt that the work I was doing was important to the desk and felt valued for doing it.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • At times I felt a little out of debth but I knew I could get help if I asked. However, they often wanted you to work things out for yourself which can be a little stressful if doing an urgent task. My second rotation supervisor was great and really wanted me to do well and was very supportive.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On my first rotation I was really busy - they wanted me to shadow throughout the day and do work after work which wasn't always possible and this was difficult to determine at the beginning of the rotation. My second desk workload was a little lighter and it was good in order to get the right balance of shadowing and work tasks.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As you haven't passed FSA exams etc there is only so much you can do within Markets. However, some of the documents that I produced would be used globally by Citi employees.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Yes, definitely. It has certainly made me much more aware of the markets and what kind of external factors influence different securities. It has also made me more aware of the maths behind pricing and this will certainly help me in my course.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was good - in my first rotation I was on a very busy lively desk and my second was in a much quieter area of the bank. This shows that there are definitely places for everyone within Citi.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was really well organised. HR have been brilliant and organised various talks/social events etc which were run very efficiently. The rotation system was also good allowing you to see different areas of the bank in the internship.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had an induction week full of training however, this was mainly departments talking about their role within markets and the bank which got a little dull after a week. There was also online training that we needed to complete.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The future prospects are appealing - we only got to see two areas of the bank within the internship but also had the ability to shadow other desks on a Friday afternoon which was good to see other areas that might also interest us.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There is a good social scene amongst colleagues and there are always drinks after work etc organised.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Working and living in London is expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The after-works drinks scene is pretty big but apart from that you need to branch out into Central London.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Lots of opportunities to get involved in things should you wish to. However, finding out how you get involved is more difficult. There are also lots of networks within Citi that you can join.

    4/5
