    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • 4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The majority of people that I worked with we're incredibly welcoming and made me feel like I was part of the team. They were all willing to help if and when I needed assistance.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I didn't seem to have a specific manager/supervisor who was in charge of me for the whole of my internship. Various people took on this role at different points in the internship who were very helpful, but it would have been nice to have some form of continuity.

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On the whole, I was relatively busy. It was mainly up to me to make sure that I had enough to do, though. You were expected to make an effort to find your own work.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I wasn't given much responsibility to begin with, but by the end I was left to go and speak to the client on my own and create my own working papers with minimal guidance.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • You spend a lot of time juggling several different tasks at once, which teaches you a lot about time management and working to strict deadlines. It also improved my confidence, having to go and speak to people from the client.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office that I was based in was largely empty when I was there. However, it was quite a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Being a small office, everyone knew each other which made it a nice place to be.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • They did not seem to have a proper plan of what clients I was supposed to be working on, or who on the office I was supposed to be working with. I was left on my own in the office for a week and was expected to find things for myself to do all week.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely consider future employment within the organisation. Having spoken to other graduates at the office, it seems to be a good place to train and the working atmosphere seems to be nice.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was the only placement student in the office. There was a placement student in a neighbouring office that I was out in touch with, so that I had someone to talk about things with. There were regular social events, which I was invited along to and made to feel welcome.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living and socialising costs were very cheap in the area that I worked in, definitely below the national average.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. I was regularly invited to activities with colleagues, and in addition there were activities organised by the company to get involved with.

    4/5
