    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the 6-week internship, it was a chance to get a flavour for the kind of work a graduate would be involved in at a great firm.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I worked within small teams for the duration of the internship and everyone was really open to helping and answering any questions I had.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Communicated via email or met with my people manager each week to keep track of my progress - this was very helpful in addition to the guidance from my direct in-charge.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Summer isn't really a busy time of year for most teams within audit, however I was still given enough to keep me going - including preparing for an AGM!

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Quite a lot of responsibility, which I had not expected, given my lack of any previous experience.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The internship was great for developing soft skills, through being in a corporate environment day in and day out.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere within the Embankment office was great! Lots of room and a great break-out area made for a great place to work.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Really well done, especially the first induction week, which was pretty heavy in terms of the logistical side of getting everyone where they needed to be. I was also fortunate enough to be put on 3 different clients for the remaining 5 weeks.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Majorly. There were sessions on personal impact and networking skills, which were quite useful in developing these traits.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Managed to secure a graduate offer at the end of the internship.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, definitely. All of the interns on my floor got along really well together and regularly went for drinks after work etc.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Central London is quite expensive in comparison to other parts of the country.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not a lot of clubs around Embankment, although there are quite a few pubs dotted around the office.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a lot of socials organised, including those organised for specific teams within Audit. For example, I was able to attend a Dodgeball social in my first week!
