    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It has been great on all levels. I have loved the people, found the work really interesting, had the opportunity to relate and study peripheral areas related to being at work. Further, I have been part of a dynamic workforce where I have been able to contribute to its growth and progression. At the same time, this has really brought my degree to life.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • It has been so nice as a student to be valued and respected just as much as anyone else in the company. Everyone has been great and motivated for achieving for the company.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Through regular 1-1s and team meetings, there was a great level of support to both encourage and guide as required in my role.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was, just like everyone else, very busy with my tasks. However, I feel that this was the 'perfect balance' as my manager would never see me with an un-achievable amount on my plate but the busyness of the office was just what I needed to be able to work on refining my prioritisation and time skills as anyone else in the company has to.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was respected just as much as anyone else for my ability to lead and take ownership and what was great was even if I was unsure of something, my manager would say what she needed to without taking away my responsibility and potential in a task.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Working in this position has allowed me to work in two roles but particularly in one which I now aspire to do as a career path. I have gained so much, all the way from adapting to the "routine" of 8:30-5 in an office to the more technical and functional skills in the role. I firmly know I am miles ahead of anyone who did not do a placement.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It had the right balance. One could have a banter and normal conversation, but people knew when they needed to focus/not distract people from the work. Great social engagement from people where I really did feel at home work there.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very good. There was a good investment of time and effort to build a good placement programme in a fast-growing company. Managers cared about my experience and wanted the best for me.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They put on extra sessions for us as interns to pick up skills and company insight. I was provided with all training I needed for my role and was also able to go on a Global IT Away Day with our parent company.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Healthcare from home

    Healthcare/Dental

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very much so. This really is an interesting company that is growing and growing, so to work with them would be a great honour and landmark achievement.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It was perfectly balanced for me against my lifestyle. We often went out for a Friday pub lunch and there were plenty of opportunities to join the company in social evenings and corporate away days/afternoons.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Manchester is much cheaper than down south where I am from and it really was great value for money.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Suitable for all tastes and scenes to chose your location for what you wanted.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Loads of culture, countryside, history, nearby venues, beaches and heritage.

    5/5
