The Role
I really enjoyed my placement with I would recommend it to anyone looking to gain experience in a reputable firm.
I was treated like a full time member of staff and give tasks and projects that I was responsible for, my colleagues relied on me and that helped my development
I had a mentor who I had fornightly meetings with to discuss my progress. I felt well supported by management who are approachable and friendly.
In the beginning once I had been trained in my daily tasks I felt like I could have more to do but after discussing this with my mentor and gaining more experience my responsibilities grew and there was always plenty to do.
I was given a good level of responsibility on placement and this grew as I progressed through my placement. I was relied upon to deliver tasks and projects without supervision.
Definately skills for life. My placement at HP has allowed me to develep my confidence, communication and presentation skills to name a few - all skills I can take forward into my studies and future career.
The Company
Good mix between being professional and relaxed. Everyone was approacable and willing to help you with any issues.
I was given the opportunity to take on a role as a full time buyer, this was good for my personal training and development.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
I would look to this organisation for future employment based on my experience this year and will apply for the graduate scheme after my final year at uni.
The Culture
Good social scene we had a few nights out in Glasgow as well as our Christmas night out, there was 5 other students in my department as well.
I didn't move for my placement I continued to live at home so wasn't really affected by a change in cost of living
Again didn't move continued staying in the Glasgow area which has good night life.
Various charity fundraising activities for Teenage Cancer Trust, opportunities to join clubs and various nights out with colleagues.
