    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Morgan Stanley as I was placed in a great team of people who were willing to give me responsibility straight away and to help with any issues.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team was a great one with all members generally getting on well and working as a unit to complete tasks. They were quick to include me within that team and I felt as if I was a valued member.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was guided by both a manager and buddy as well as other staff, all were very willing to help out.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy most days, not too busy, but this reflected the willingness of the team to share tasks and I appreciated being given lots of work rather than being bored.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given responsibility for many of my own tasks and was generally left to carry these out myself. This allowed me to develop my knowledge and understanding of these tasks and even improve them for the team.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I could not put a value on the skills I acquired while working for Morgan Stanley. From working in an office environment to developing my knowledge of accounting practice and regulation, all will be of great value for the future.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The company organised a number of social activities to which most staff members went. My team also went out after work occasionally and there was always a good atmosphere in the office.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There were a number of events put on for the interns. This ranged from training events to a careers workshop. All were well organised.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company puts on continuous training events for all staff and the interns were invited to attend these events also. They also put on additional training for the interns only.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The signs so far are good and I received excellent feedback from my management team. I am currently waiting to here from the company and if they were to offer a job I would certainly accept.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The group of interns often went out as a group and in the last week of our placement the company organised a big event for us all. We then went out as a group after that.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Most nearby restaurants/cafes/bars were generally more than student places but not extortionate.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Not many pubs closeby but the office was not far from the city centre where the nightlife is excellent.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Some opportunities, mainly sports, were organised. These included football and a golf competition.

    3/5
