    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I would have liked to have gone out of the office a little more and had more face to face contact with customers. Overall the job was good!

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues were very friendly and made me feel like one of the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • If I ever needed any support or showing how to do something they were very happy to help. If they couldn't someone in the business would also be very happy to assist.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days were busier than others but this is the nature of customer service roles. If nothing goes wrong on one day then it is generally quiet.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Responsibility was given to me for important tasks. I wouldnt go as far as running the show but I was given responsibility to deal with everything that was within my level of position.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There is no doubt this placement will make me more employable and also assist in real life situational examples when it comes to university essay writing.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Generally quite a banterous atmosphere within the office. Some departments were more serious but Consumer and Marketing were always up for a joke around.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was a transition period between me joining and getting all of the access I needed. It took 2 weeks to get email access and SAP access took a little longer. This is something I am told cannot be avoided though so i'm sure everyone did there upmost to get everything done in the shortest amount of time possible.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given training which will benefit me within the tyre industry, general corporate work and my university assessments. Overall I cannot criticise the training and development at all.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would happily return to start my career with Goodyear as it is generally a young persons environment and a great place to get exposure.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was lucky in making friends who were up for a big night out every weekend and also were keen to organise more social activities. This suited me and made the placement that much more enjoyable.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I come from Nottingham originally and would say that the cost of living in Birmingham and Nottingham are generally the same. Maybe Birmingham being a tad more expensive and the cost of fuel in Birmingham is much higher than in Nottingham.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Birmingham is a great night out with a massive student community. There is never a shortage of things to do on a weekend with DJ sets and gigs happening at Gatecrasher around once a month. Much better than Nottingham.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Football was a regular activity on Thursdays after work. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] in occupational health runs circuit training every Tuesday and Thursday and also does regular trips out to Wales for Boot Camp which is great!
