    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a good experience as you get to perform some challenging work, however I was under the impression that my role would involve more analytical tasks and company policies meant that I did not have access to a PC for the first couple of weeks of the placement and so unable to do any work, all I was able to do was read tyre magazines and tyre manuals.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was given responsibility over a couple over a few key business projects and colleaguesoften came to me with questions regarding any of these projects.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • They were often too busy to sit down and guide me through certain processes at the start of the placement which was initially difficult but once I got to grasps with the IT systems, processes and knew what was expected of me I was fine. My management always helped me whenever I had a problem though as long as I asked for help.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The workload doesn't really get too much as long as yu are able to multitask and prioritise. There were a few occassions were I had to stay after work but it was only for an extra hour at the longest.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given responsibiltiy over a few projects that were important to the business.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The coomunication and presentation training courses will provide very useful for the rest of my degree and life. Being on placement has also given me the opportunity to learn important life skills such as organisation and managing time effecively.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My colleagues were willing to have a laugh and everyone was respectful of eachother. It can get a bit quiet on the busier days though.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It wasn't until one week before joining that I was contacted about accomdation in the area with other undergraduates, at which point I had already arranged to be a lodger. There was no access to a PC for the first two weeks and even after that I had to wait to gain access to certain computer programs and systems. It must of been at least a month before I had access to everything I needed. On the other hand the undergraduate training courses were excellent and spaced throughout the year.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They provided a wide array of training courses.

  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to return the company as I think I would enjoy my time here even more in a position higher up in the company although I think this would involve working longer hours.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
