    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

    • The insight week was a great opportunity to meet new people and find out more about corporate banking. The job rotations allowed me to see the huge range of roles within RBS and made me begin to consider what sort of job would be suited to me.

    • The organisers made an effort to know our names, and everyone I met was more than happy to answer my questions about RBS.

    • The workshop on presentation skills was very useful for the group presentation

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I have developed my presentation skills, as well as my teamworking skills. It was useful having feedback on both of these (from peers and our graduate mentor) as I feel it will really help me in the future.

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?

    • There were some issues with the timings, which were not made clear on the various timetables. There were also difficulties in travelling across London to the various offices within the time slots given.

    • The atmosphere was very friendly and there was always something to do!

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • We had workshops on some skills (e.g. Presentation) but given the short length of the placement there was little more that could be done.

    • It was very useful to be able to speak to a range of people about their experiences at RBS

    • I had expected banking to have more of a 'cut-throat' culture but it was quite the opposite! Everyone was keen to talk about how the culture at RBS differs from other banks

    • This placement was so useful at helping me decide on my future career plans and developing my skills, I would recommend it to people who aren't even sure banking is for them as it really does help you decide!
