About You
Helped a lot to develop my understanding for the work involved in Financial Advisory and what a graduate role at Rothschild would look like.
Was taken good care of at the firm in the sense that employees were attentive and happy to answer questions especially during shadowing.
As above, very supportive HR staff made sure that questions were answered to the best of their ability.
A lot of the work at the firm is not entirely dissimilar to the fundamentals in economics, however this is primarily not covered in my degree.
The Company
Well put together on the whole and the timetable essentially stayed true to itself, with little delay/wait between activities.
Everyone seemed to be quite serious which was perhaps there was such a lot to absorb, but it was nevertheless a very stimulating experience.
They definitely invested heavily in those taking part - viewing us as prospects for the firm. I had the opportunity to talk with a couple of senior directors (which I had not counted on!)
It was great to experience life at a boutique firm such as Rothschild but also to see first hand through the shadowing was enriching.
The culture at the firm was evident it all that they did - sharp, intelligent, close-knit. It was an aspirational work environment as everyone was exceptional.
Made me realise the different culture of working at a smaller, boutique firm that was equally, if not more rewarding than a Bulge Bracket firm.
Everything Else
Got the chance to speak with many at the firm (this was great, as not many showed up at the Careers Fair!)
Down-to-earth, sometimes candid conversations with staff meant that I was able to get a real flavour of the people at Rothschild.
I would assume that there is a lot of charitable work/societies to be involved in, time permitting. Staff did not seem to be overly stressed - so the work-life balance must be agreeable.
Really worth taking part in if you have the chance. So much better than their Grad. Recruitment website that leaves a lot to the imagination for those with limited knowledge of the industry. It was great to incorporate work shadowing into the brief 3 days to get a first-hand look at the 'front-lines'.
