    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Very enjoyable insight into the work and culture of the M&IB arm of RBS.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • In general, employees from both HR and the business were more than happy to take time to answer any questions that we had during the week.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The first two days of the programme assumed no prior knowledge of investment banking and consisted of training sessions designed to teach and train us to an appropriate level.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I didn't feel the skills used during the insight week were similar to those required for rigorous study at university.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • There was a very clear structure to the week, with predefined and appropriate time slots for every activity.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The culture and values within RBS meant that the general atmosphere was always one of openness, friendliness and fun.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The first two days, in particular, were entirely focused around training sessions and information sessions that the bank had clearly invested in.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The opportunities to learn not only about the technical aspects of a role, but also about the personal and cultural values of the firm meant that this particular insight was more than evident.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Although only two of the five days were spent shadowing current employees, there were plenty of opportunities (talks, networking sessions etc) to learn about the cultural values that RBS hold.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Although I am yet to decide on my career path, it is certainly true that the insight week was useful in providing me as much information as possible in order to make an informed decision.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Not only were there opportunities to actually walk around the bank's offices and be introduced to employees, but there were also networking sessions to enable us to meet graduates and other members of the bank.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • In the five-day insight week, RBS offered social and/or team-building events on three individual occasions, all of which provided a great opportunity to build networks and strengthen relationships with fellow interns.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • In particular, the final day of the week involved a project which surrounded the bank's corporate social responsibility; through this, it was clear that charity and such opportunities are more than available when working for RBS.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Overall, this was a great insight experience and taught me so much more than I could ever have learnt by simply typing queries into Google.

    5/5
