About You
Was great fun; fellow students were all of a similar mindset. Early mornings aren't so bad when you're all in it together!
Whilst everyone we shadowed were very busy, the help and guidance offered was extremely useful.
Everyone working was keen to offer advice. The support from HR was also second to none!
A true insight to an investment bank. A broad range of roles were covered during the week. Fascinating to see how a bank actually functions.
The Company
Well structured from day one. Varying levels of independence throughout the week; 'hands were held' when needed, but we were free to learn independently with resources provided too!
Amazing atmosphere; given the clash of students on their Easter break and bankers in high pressure jobs, wasn't sure how things would work. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the week and found it a great environment wherever I was during the day! No one could do too much to help us students!
There was no expense spared on providing for us during the week. We were initially trained in a lecture type environment, then a more interactive one, then placed on a variety of desks to see how what we learnt actually works. Great food and drink also!!
Whilst not every desk could be covered in the time scale, a broad overview was given. All questions I had were answered! Have come out much more educated about the firm and the industry!
We were told openly and frankly about the culture and working hours, as well as how they compared to other firms in the industry.
A great overview of the company and industry; given me a much clearer idea of what I'd like to do in the future. Definitely hasn't put me off, either!
Everything Else
Although I would have been if I had lived outside of the M25. Many fellow students were reimbursed or put up in accommodation (which they said was outstanding!).
Throughout the week informally, and at organised events. Got plenty of business cards of people offering advise.
Varied in style, but all great fun and productive!
Like the culture, was spoken openly and frankly about on the desks to us students!
A great insight into the RBS group as well as the industry. Hard work for the week and long hours, but time never dragged!
