About You
Really enjoyed my week with RBS, they kept it interesting and added variance to the talks, tasks, events etc that we were made to do.
Everyone was very friendly and happy to talk and answer our questions. Was impressed by the willingness of even more senior members of RBS to come and talk to us be it through organized speeches or just on their own account when they noticed us on desk rotations.
The human resource staff were very informative and gave us a full timetable for the week and reminded us on a daily basis on the events of the up coming days to ensure we always knew what we were doing.
The skills and information received would have limited assistance in my degree studies but as someone with the ambition to work in investment banking the amount I was able to learn this week was incredible and far exceeded my expectations.
The Company
The structure of having talks mixed with simulations for the first two days gave the broad sense of what investments banks followed by desk rotations worked very well. I would have preferred an extra day or so of desk rotations to see as much as possible but its understandable that their are probably some constraints making that harder to do.
Great atmosphere, got on well with everyone I talked to and everyone was very approachable, be it the members of RBS or other people on the insight program.
Had good companies come in and give lessons, also they paid quite a fair amount for transport and in particular accommodation.
A lot, would have liked to been able spend more time on desk rotations but was able to learn a lot from the two days spent on desks.
They stressed their company culture a lot, however, as always I remain skeptical as to how much of it is them trying to put themselves in a positive light. But from rotations and the investment made by RBS into the spring insight program it did seem genuine.
Undecided before I did this but following I am much more certain of what I want to do in my future
Everything Else
The company paid for accommodation and transport.
Desk rotations with employees on the graduate program was a great way to network and was able to talk to a lot of grads and other employees.
There were a couple of social events ran which were a great way to talk to other people on the program as well as a few of the grads.
Yes, the conversations with the grads were happy to talk about their social life as well as their work life.
Definitely for anyone looking or even considering getting into investment banking. Also haven spoken to people who did other spring insihgts RBS seem to have had a much insight program.
