The Role
The placement was enjoyable because I enjoyed the team, the work and the hours.
On the shop floor I felt that I was treated with respect by all members of the team.
My dispenses were supervised by a Dispensing Optician throughout and the store manager took an active interest in my well-being and how I was finding the placement.
Most days I was relatively busy. I was always given more work when I had finished a task.
I was encouraged to take responsibility for my dispenses which were supervised.
I have been able to use the skills that I developed at university and put them into a real practice.
The Company
The team was really friendly and I got along with everyone.
I was told of the placement a number of weeks before and everything went smoothly.
Staff took the time out of their usual schedules to train me during my time there.
They take into account work experience and the rapport you built up with staff members when allocating you a pre-registration scheme.
The Culture
The store team organised events during the week and I attended two, the most memorable being the bowling competition, optoms versus DOs.
Cost of living in London is pretty high in all honesty.
There are lots of activities to do in London.
The store organises weekly socials and I was encouraged to participate in all of them.
