The Role
The placement was a good way to gain an understanding into the core operations within RBS. It was very presentation heavy at times, however there were plenty of opportunities to network which is important.
We were provided with mentors during the week and they were very enthusiastic about the insights programme.
The mentors were extremely helpful and very positive throughout the week and responded very positively to our needs.
The sessions were very well structured and we were busy throughout. This was provided at the start of the week .
Due to the nature of the week, responsibility was voluntary through group exercises.
Definitely improved my understanding of the bank as a whole as well as helping me to improve my own abilities for instance in teamwork activities.
The Company
The atmosphere was great as the mentors were energetic and the students were all keen to get to know one another.
This was very well organised but occasionally over-ran which meant that dinner was a little later than usual!
All accommodation and food/drinks were provided by RBS.
Company Parties/Events
The firm aims to convert the majority of the students on the insight week through an assessment centre and interview to attain a place on the internship.
The Culture
Students were very friendly and we had the opportunity to bond over dinner and drinks.
Typically expensive in London but RBS provided all expenses.
The nightlife in London is excellent and the area which we stayed had numerous bars/pubs.
Being the insight week this unfortunately was not possible.
