    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I absolutely loved the experience, it occurred at just the right time during Easter holidays and was a good way to break up the revision. I got to meet a number of people from different universities and still keep in touch with a handful!

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Through team exercises when I discussed or presented a topic I felt that the PwC staff really listened to our opinions and gave us good feedback. This was really beneficial as at the end of the day this was a learning curve.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We wasn't really exposed to members of managers or supervisors, but the facilitators were on hand at all times for support which was great.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was a lot to get through on those 3 days and we found ourselves being busy throughout. We were given sufficient time for lunch and after we finished the exercises for the day there was just enough time before dinner and the evening activities. It was all worth it given my experience.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As we weren't really partaking in any real work, responsibility was simulated by means of assuming positions of leadership such as the group leader in exercises.

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel that the insight academy touched heavily on time management and it's something that I can take forward especially in group tasks at university.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • We weren't in the office but were in a designated training centre. The facilities were great and the facilitators were enthusiastic! It gave me a great chance to see how I would fit in with the people culture at PwC and from this it was very positive.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • As PwC run a number of the insight academy schemes, the scheme was very organised and followed the schedule pretty much to the minute. This was given out when we arrived so that we had time to prepare for what was to come.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I can't thank them enough because they provided us with opportunities to learn not only about the firm but about ourselves. This is what I found most useful given that the scheme is only for a small number of days!

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Employment prospects are good with many students being considered for a summer internship. I spoke to a number of students I met there and many have been offered interviews for various service lines.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • In the evenings we got to network with the partners over dinner and drinks. At first this was a little daunting as this was my first introduction to networking but they made us feel welcomed and were very insightful about their experiences with PwC.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • PwC provided all expenses for this placement.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I can only assess the nightlife based on our social events in the evening and they were enjoyable, we would often end up talking for the majority of the evening.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • This is not necessarily a negative because they have such an exciting schedule for the 3 days! There isn't too much time to rest on your laurels due to this!
