    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was very insightful and I learnt a lot. It was a busy week but also a very enjoyable week. It gives you a good idea of what to expect from the summer internship

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone I met was very happy to give up their time to talk to me and other people had the same experience.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We were all given a mentor and my mentor was very helpful and answered all my questions so I felt like they did the best they could to help me

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It was very busy and some days did feel very long but I think this is a realistic reflection of what it would be like to work in finance.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given hardly any responsibility but its understandable

    1/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Very useful in terms of gaining knowledge of financial market concepts but it was more of a week of observing and learning so I did not really learn any transferable skills. Although there were talks on networking which is a vey useful skill to master.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Professional and approachable - I was expecting a really something else!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything was perfectly organised by the HR team and they were always around to make sure that everything went to plan

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Practically the whole week could be described as training so i would say that the company invested a lot in its interns and in all the talks it was keen to emphasis the superiority of the RBS graduate scheme in terms of training and experiences offered

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely recommend this company and would love to work for them in the future based on everything i was exposed to during that week

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All the other people on the programme were great fun and there was plenty of opportunity to socialise with them.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It was in the City of London so it was expensive however RBS gave us £10 travel expenses per day and a £10 dinner budget

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • We went as a group to central London which was really a memorable night!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We were only there for a week, so not much to add on this front.
