    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • 5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Across the intern class, I felt interns were warmly welcomed into the office environment. Team lunches and many briefings were arranged in order to ensure the transition process from training to the office was executed as flawlessly as possible. On my first day, I attended a diversity event which was a great way to be introduced into the bank.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I arranged weekly meetings with my line manager in order to ensure we were both fully updated with the progress of my projects throughout the internship. This enabled me to feel fully supported throughout the duration of the internship, and allowed my work to be exposed and used as widely as possible.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Each day was very different. On the whole, it was extremely busy, and I never felt that I had nothing to do! It is possible to get involved with as much or as little as you want to.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I worked on five main projects, and I was given full ownership of these. This allowed me to work with a wide variety of individuals and teams across the business.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The main thing I took away from the internship was communication skills, and the importance of ensuring that full transparency is given at all stages within work and projects. This communication should, if possible, be via face to face contact or telephones, to ensure that email communication is not over relied upon.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was extremely busy, but that wasn't to say that people didn't have time for you. All teams and individuals were extremely helpful, and were always prepared to give 30 minutes of their time to interns to explain their business divisions in further depth. Of course, you have to have an interest in it too!

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The opportunities above and beyond the day to day business was really impressive. I got involved in Diversity events, Community Investment and volunteering days, training sessions, and intern wide socials. Also, all interns were given a buddy in order to answer any business and non-business related questions.

    5/5
