Overview
Working as a developer in the corporate bank, creating software, meeting with other members of the team frequently.
Skills
Yes, I feel much more confident in software development now, and am much more confident speaking to people in a professional setting.
Responsibilities
Yes, I had a project supervisor but ultimately the project was to be taken in a direction that I saw necessary. It was my responsibility to schedule meetings and get things delivered on time.
Support & Guidance
There was a lot of support options, such as the team which organizes the internship and the team in which I was working.
Culture
Quite casual, and very friendly. Every person was kind and helpful and seemed like they genuinely enjoyed working there.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the work I was doing, but primarily I enjoyed spending time with the other interns. With so many interns in our cohort it felt like there was always someone to talk to if you needed help or even a break.
Yes
Be yourself during the application process. Barclays has a huge emphasis on diversity and individuality, so by being yourself you'll be able to show what you specifically can bring to the company.
