The Role
The job was far more than I expected it to be, with lots of extra tasks, situations, training, people and responsibilities given to me than I could hope for. Every day, I learnt something new or met someone new.
I was given vast knowledge of the systems in our department and high level access and control very quickly. I took this as a sign of great trust in me and my abilities which in turn made me feel very valued.
My supervisor was constantly on hand to give me advice, check my work, answer questions, and to fix what I broke!
Very busy during some periods, but others were like working in a dead zone. This was really out of the departments control, and I could fill the time with all the free training on hand.
I could turn the entire place off with the flip of a switch by my second week.
Some of the skills were very industry and hardware specific, some even focusing on one particular component. However a lot of the training I gain was high level generic skills that I will be using for years to come.
The Company
Typical of an office I imagine, boring mostly but with a few funny guys.
They had a very well set out plan for induction, management, training, intern events, council etc...
I had access to 98% of the training that everyone else did, the rest was the "The conference is in Miami" sort of "Training".
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Healthcare from home
No guarantee of work, no offer to cover my final year, returning graduate program is just "Skip a few interviews". Could be better to be honest.
The Culture
Lots of events.
Very high rent in surrounding area due to businessman type environment.
Nightlife is better in Reading, but its very easy to travel to it, plus this was organised by council.
Standard football clubs and such, volunteering opportunities etc...
