The Role
I gained some great experience that enabled to get a permanent position within the organisation. At times I wasn't as busy as I would have like to have been though.
My colleagues were amazing. I didn't feel like an intern that was just there for a couple of month, I felt that I was a important member of the team at all times.
I received all the support and guidance that I needed. This was perfectly balanced with giving me lots of responsibility and letting me decide how I wanted to work. If I had wanted or needed more guidance at any point then I would have received it.
Due to the nature of the work that I was doing, some days were much busier than others. I often had to try to get information from other people and so I was often reliant on being able to get hold of them.
I was given a lot of responsibility and a lot of freedom. I had a say in the type of work I wanted to be involved in and my mentor made sure I worked on projects that would enable me to develop the skills I wanted.
I learnt a lot about communicating and engaging people and also a lot about change within an organisation which I'll be able to take to any organisation I work for in the future. It's also given me a lot more confidence in my own abilities.
The Company
Everyone worked hard but due to the nature of the project it was important for everyone to remain positive at all times. This came across in the general atmosphere and made it a great place to work.
The whole internship setup was well organised and we were given lots of support. Within my team, they ahd not had interns before so they were also learning from us, which meant there was a slower start to the internship than I would have hoped for.
We had CV and interview training and were given the option to shadow other teams and areas in order to find out about other things that interested us.
Subsidised Canteen
I got a job in the department I was most interested in. Future career development within the organisation is also very appealing.
The Culture
Made friends with some great people who definately made the whole experience better.
London can be very expensive but I was living at home which made the opportunity financially viable.
As we were in the centre of London there were lots of restaurants, pubs, bars and clubs around. A great area to work.
There is always a lot going on in London. There are loads of different activities that you could get involved with.
