The Role
Great fun, and very enjoyable
Colleagues were very good at making you feel at home, and welcome.
Again, the management were very good at making sure you had good levels of work, and kept you supported through work
On some days I was particularly busy, however on most I was kept busy, but not feeling rushed nor panicked to get work done.
Depending on tasks, and whether they were for clients, or for internal, depended upon my responsibility. For client work, there was more supervision, however I still had a substantial amount of independence in my work. General process would be brief on work, get on with work asking questions as needed, and occasionally people would check in, then I would feedback when I return the completed work. For some internal tasks, I had more control, whereby I was given a brief on the task, and asked to deliver a presentation on a topic. Then I'd work my way through it, maybe asking for help here and there, and then deliver. But there was much more control given to me in these situations.
Many many skills were learnt, in particular those for Excel usage will no doubt be skills for life.
The Company
Atmosphere throughout was talkative, and enjoyable. During busy times, people were obviously quieter, and less likely to talk as much.
Once in the office the internship was very well organised. Admittedly, prior to this point was perhaps the weakest point of the internship. That said, it was still solid, and competed well with other companies on their application process. It just wasn't quite as good as the other aspects.
The firm spent lots of time training me, including a very nice 3 day training scheme in a great hotel.
Subsidised Canteen
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
They offered me a job, which I have accepted.
The Culture
Colleagues were more than happy to invite you out, and the placement students themselves tended to organise a weekly trip to a local pub on a weekly basis.
Being in London, cost was relatively high.
Again, London nightlife, so it was solid throughout.
Absolutely, great opportunity to do stuff outside of work.
