The Role
The work is good. You get to make a real impact on the decisions. However, sometimes it can get a bit monotonous. Although mostly it is fast changing.
They help you a lot to integrate into the team. You can ask the stupidest of questions and they will still help you without any issues.
They have a mentor. You can ask him/her anything at anytime. They are more the like the unofficial trainers.
2 weeks a month is really less work with loads of idle time. The other 2 weeks are very hectic with long hours maybe 3 or so times.
Slowly they kept on giving me more responsibility. So it is not like you suddenly get overwhelmed with work. It comes in stages.
To be fair, the kind of academics we have at Uni is not in anyways related to the real world. Although some theoretical concepts are good. Otherwise it is more practical and people skills which really help.
The Company
Friendly and celebrating
they did not have the previous intern rolling forward on me. So sometimes I would be really confused on the task at hand.
There are a lot of seminars and talks with real world professionals.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
If you work hard, then you get it.
The Culture
Go out for IP night outs or sometimes just drinks every week after work.
Canary Wharf can be really expensive
Some good night clubs. But generally went to city centre for clubbing.
Lots of social events
