The Role
The job was really interesting, and the team really involved me in everything that was going on. I am definitely looking to get a job here after I finish university.
I was really involved within the team and felt like a real part of it at all times. I was given a large amount of responsibility within the team which really made me feel valued.
Everyone was always available to answer any questions I had, always helpful. But also allowed to be independant and not reliant too much upon their guidance.
I was very busy during the day, but still had just the right amount of work to allow me to leave on time pretty much every day. It was exactly the right amount of work.
I really felt like I was given a large amount of responsibility during my placement. At times I was moved from the project I was working on, onto a different project that had popped up because it was higher priority. I wasn't given a project that would just sit on the back bench, the screens I have designed are already in daily use by the traders.
The skills I have gained will be invaluable to my studies. I have a much more indepth understanding of C# and CLR because of this placement. This has guided me to making a much better informed choice in my final year project and also has provided me with the opportunity to get a job here when I leave!
The Company
The general environment in the office is really calm and focussed which I feel is exactly right for a work environment. After work and during lunch times the atmosphere became a lot more fun and everyone had a good laugh together.
I was contacted by my manager about a month before I started to let me know where I would be working and what I would be doing. There was never a shortage of work and the intern's training programme and events were extrememly well co-ordinated.
I was given the opportunity to attend many different training courses, from courses relevant to my studies (such as .NET courses) to more general courses such as first aid training!

If you perform well on the placement then there is a very good chance that you will be offered a job at the end. I still have a final interview and a managers review to go through, but fingers crossed I will be offered a job.
The Culture
Although I didn't go to many of these events, many of the summer placement students live in Greenwich university halls of residence over the summer, meaning there are is great social scene within the interns. There were loads of events from nights out to paintablling organised.
London is inherantly expensive, but the pay of the job compensated for that.
This is London, there are tonnes of great night clubs, pubs and bars, although you may have to travel a little, but the transport at night is pretty good too.
There were always different events being arranged, from paintballing to running events etc.
