    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The work was sometimes basic however if you tried to further your experience and looked upon the broad tasks you were given rather than the 'not so good' tasks it was a great experience.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The majority of people make you feel welcome and are generally available to talk and answer questions

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Sometimes lacking guidance from managers if they are out of the office on business. However this was expected in PWM.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy but again this is expected in a investment bank. Days usually started at 6:45am and finished at 8:00pm

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Was asked to generate invest ideas which were then vetted and put infront of the client.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot about the markets and about a career in Private Wealth Management

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • You work on small desks that run independent of each other so you are normally working in small close knit teams. If you like this it is a great experience.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Rather well, although it was quite a slow process, however I believe this was down to market conditions and discussion which were happening at a high level in the USA.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm did not invest other than our salary over the 10 week placement. However as a graduate they spend time and money training you up as well as sponsoring the CFA qualification if desired.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There is very little recruitment occurring in the bank at this time.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • PWM only had 4 interns including myself so there was few socials. Only two socials were organised by HR.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is expensive, however I was living at home!

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife in canary wharf doesn't go much further than drinks after work.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • No that I was aware of other than the occasional time we were invited out for drinks by our teams.

    1/5
