  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I really enjoyed the experience.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • Support and guidance was good from the people that set up the placement (i.e. manager) however not so great from my line manager in the department

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • Some days work was limited due to security clearance not being ready in time. Most of the time there was work to be done though.

    • For some tasks there was a fair amount of responsibilty but not all.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I learnt alot over the summer that will help out in uni.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • No one really talked to each other in the office - even at lunch! I was lucky enough to have another summer placement in the same office though so that was alright.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • Only bad thing would be the fact the security clearence wasn't set up properly. It got left til last minute and I ended up starting a week later that I was meant to because of it. That was annoying because it cost me an extra week's rent.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • Quite alot of time was put into showing me how to do various calculations/work different computer programs etc.

    • I would definately consider coming back to Bae for a summer placement and the graduate scheme looks great.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • Summer placement organised regular night outs etc. and I was even invited to a few department nights out.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • Rent was pretty cheap (compared to living in the city anyway) but i thought it was quite expensive in pubs etc.

    • Nights out with the summer placements were pretty good.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

    • There was quite a few summer placement nights out arranged, a few department nights out and the grads arranged some paintballing sessions. Apart from that I think I spent quite alot of money just getting out of Barrow during the weekends.
