The Role
I was able to gain a firm understanding on not only the desk i was placed on, but also the wider business it operates in.
Despite being on a busy, heavy-flow trading desk the team made sure I was comfortable and always answered any questions I had.
I did recieve feedback, however this was at least 6weeks into the internship, so this could have come earlier.
The desk gave me extensive projects to work on, and I was encouraged to spend as much time as possible shadowing the traders, which made sure I had plenty to do!
Being on a trading desk I of course could not do any active trading, however I was involved with projects and excel work which was to be used by the desk
There was definitely huge scope to learn and develop youself into a well rounded individual. The internship has put me in a great place going forward, and I will be able to draw upon a vast range of skills that I have developed. I would fully recommend a placement with RBS on this basis.
The Company
It was a great place to learn and ask questions.
Proactiveness was widely encouraged in the internship, and meeting more people was a requirement in finding a suitable desk for me.
The firm and my team I worked with worked to ensure that what I got involved with was going to benefit me, and they would constantly be ensuring my understanding of the work was correct.
Company Parties/Events
Headcount is an issue!
The Culture
The fellows interns were friendly however there were not that many social events.
Central London, one of the most expensive cities in the world.
Although I did not experience it too often, we were able to attend some of the most exclusive clubs in London.
Not really.
