    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It is a very challenging and intense experience, and certainly one in which you get out what you put into it

  • I felt incredibly valued by my second desk as I was given significant amounts of work that actually contributed to their performance

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • HR planned out a superb summer program and were always available for guidance upon request. On my desk I also felt aptly supported if/when needed

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Morgan Stanley kept us extremely busy this summer, at times this could be overwhelming but also an excellent challenge

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • This varied form desk to desk, but certainly on my second desk I felt like I was really adding value to the team

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Having graduated this is hard to say, but I certainly understand financial markets in a whole new depth now

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The trading floor has a continual buzz about it, the only downside to this is that people don't always have time to spend with interns

  • It really was excellent, there was a huge amount and variety of activities that seemed to keep rolling on each week

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Providing a whole week of training at the start, along with continual lectures and MD introductions showed their commitment to the Internship Program

  • Company Parties/Events

  • Being a competitive environment and tough market at the moment it is hard to evaluate future job prospects, but Morgan Stanley give you every opportunity to impress

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was really pleased with the camaraderie between the interns this summer

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Canary Wharf is not cheapest place in London it must be said, however full time employees were very generous when taking us out

  • There was very little time for night life

  • I would have liked to have had more sporting opportunities
