The Role
Project was a little monotone, but on the other hand there were a couple of very new technologies I got to use and overall I am really satisfied with what I have managed to pick up during my stay.
The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic, beyond my expectations, with plenty of friendly people who were always there when you needed them. Big plus.
My manager would always provide all the help needed or direct me to the right person to get help from. There was no question I could not find an answer to within minutes.
There were days when there was not too much to do because I had to wait for permissions to use certain software / plugins and there were also days when I ended up staying late, but I guess in the end this is the case for many companies.
I was assigned a project used by a fairly small number of people, so I would not say I was too responsible. The feeling when you get when you demo your work to the users is nice though.
I have picked up a couple of very useful technologies which I am sure I will get to use from now on, both in school and future jobs. Can't thank the team enough for this.
The Company
Even though most people would expect the contrary from an investment bank, the atmosphere was nothing but dull. The guys were always up to something and this made my stay very enjoyable.
My manager and I prepared a plan right from the first day, so the organisation was really smooth and I knew exactly what I was supposed to do.
There were a couple of useful trainings, on the technical side of things and also on the financial side as well. There could be more, but after all this was only an internship.

They do interviews with most interns for graduate programmes, so they are always open to new hires.
The Culture
We used to spend most of our lunch time together and there were also some enjoyable nights. Most of them were really nice people, but I sometimes feel we could have done more.
Canary Wharf is by far one of the most expensive areas in London and this was probably the worst part of the internship. Even so, the location is nice and there are plenty of things to do.
Despite the fact that after work there were plenty of things to do, during weekends or at night the wharf would be quite empty.
There was some volunteering and some events organised by the HR, but nothing too much.
