  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The work it entailed was hihly interesting and made me look forward to going to work.

  • People would rely on me and everyone was very approachable and willing to help no matter how busy they were.

  • Every step of the way my manager supoprted me and i felt i could check everything with him without judgement.

  • i always have something to be doing and it was laid out when deadlines were.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had 'real' work to do that i needed to complete for the sake of the team i work in. Whilst always feeling that if i was struggling i had someoe to talk to.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Personal development was fanastic, skills ranging from presentational to time management will stay with me for life.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was chat when the time was right, however, everyone had a high work load so the main priorty was to get the work done socialising always came second, as it should in a place of work.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I knew what my line manager expected of me, what i could talk to my mentor about. The induction went smoothly, as well on the other sites. There was many activites to help us commicate with people form other disciplines and locations.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Lots of workshops to help improve skills, appraisals to check they we were getting what we wanted out of the placement as well as us doing the job/project we had been set. Inductions and assessments all over the UK to enhance networking.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • i would love to work for them full time, however, i feel that doing a PhD beforehand would be benefical as i feel there is still of lot i need to learn.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • BP helped us find places to love together so we could socialise outside of work. As well as passing on details before the internship started so we could start to get to know each other. There was social events that were organised by HR to help us find ways of meeting ones that we might not of come into contact with outside of work.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It's Hull, most things are very cheap. But we still get paid the same as the interns in london.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • only went out on the weekends, but there was always somewhere to go that was reasonably priced and within walking/cheap taxi fare

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Such as lunch and learns, technofest, flip cam (we filmed our placements to make videos for our memories and to show new interns what they could expect), Compnay BBQ, meals, drinks, inductions with different parts of the company etc
