    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my time at BP. I have been working within functions, and have therefore had contact with all aspects of the business, which has been challenging but enjoyable. The internship has been really well organised, and I feel that I am making a valuable contribution to the company.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I have felt really valued by my colleagues. I have been working in a relatively small team where everyone looks after each other - I cannot believe how much time everyone has for me, particularly if I need help.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager has been really supportive. We have had weekly meetings to talk about progress and discuss any problems I have had during the week. However they have also tried to challenge me by forcing me to come up with my own solutions to problems, whilst still supporting me.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Went through hectic and quieter periods, however I was never bored.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was allowed to project manage some work and was put in charge of a project which involved negiotiating with stakeholders and dealing with the project when things went wrong!

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It is so much easier to learn things when you are carrying out practical work.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in my office has been really friendly and everyone is willing to sit down with you and help. However it has the right balance of work / social.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall placement was set up fantastically. I received regular communication from the graudate resourcing team the whole way through my application. The only time when I felt the gradaute resourcing team did not live up to expectations was after I undertook the psychometric tests - I received an email informing me that I would know within 2 weeks whether I had progressed to the next stage, however it was more like 2 months!

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company really invested in me. I was sent to visit different offices and to meet various people who would help me progress further in my career. BP really put the time and effort in to each of its interns.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to continue working for the organisation.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The other interns go out together at least once a week. We also all make the effort to socialise at work and eat lunch together multiple times a week.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was based at the Sunbury site with BP. There is very little around the site, however the transport links to London are excellent. However London is definitely not the cheapest place to be based!!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • In the area I worked the nightlife was non existant! However in London the nightlife was very good.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were plenty of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of BP. BP runs various organisations such as the running club, and whilst I was carrying out my internship I took part in dragon boat racing, bootcamp, intern BBQ's etc etc
