    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This is my first experience of a placement. I like how I have been given the opportunity to perform important and beneficial work for the team I am in. I also relish the responsibilities I have been given and then independance they have allowed me to have.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The work I am conducting is an important step in the project. The team request weekly updates and I perform performance updates in meetings to the team and to the entire department.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager has done all what is asked of him and more. He gave me the necessary documentation at the start and was very helpful in getting me settled. He is very approachable and has always dedicated his time to helping me throughout my internship.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given a project to complete and then aspects in which I would investigate were really dictated by me. After consultation with my line manager we came up with a manageable quantity of work. It is pushing me to my limits and I am learning a lot but I have produced a detailed and high quality report to show my hard work.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I dont feel I was given responsibilities. I feel I actively went and saught the responsibility by taking organisational and comittee roles.

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have learned are invaluable. I have learnt so much more about my discipline and I am relishing the opportunity to return to university and showcase what I have learned.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office I work in is predominantly not people within my team. Therefore I have to walk to go and see my team when i have questions etc. I have made friends with a number of people in the office and we do converse, but generally the atmosphere is quite quiet and serious.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I feel we were told quite late on where and what our placement would be on. Also the work they have set out for me I had to decide what I was going to do. Nothing was laid out on a table as such.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company has sent me on two training sessions which were very useful.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I feel there is a good grad scheme here. I also feel there is plenty of opportunity within the company for travelling and progression up the career ladder.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All the interns seem to get on together really well. However living at home and commuting I have been lesser able to spend time with them after work.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Hull is a very affordable city to live.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I have not been on any real nights out with the interns. However I have attended a dine out event with BP staff and interns which was enjoyable.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The activities offered mainly involve sports and no real other alternatives exist.
