    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It has been an exceptional placement, I am given so much responsibility and I learnt more in a month than I did in my whole time at uni!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • We weren't really treated as interns after the first month, we had a real job with real responsibilities and we were really integrated as part of the team- most people outside the team didn't even realise we were interns!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Guidance was there when it was necessary and our team were always on hand to help but we were encouraged as much as possible after training to create our own opportunities and be very independent.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • We were very busy right from day one which was hard to deal with after 2 years at uni, but it was very realistic to a graduate job and you never got the chance to get bored!

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I managed a huge amount of money in the time I was there and spoke to customers directly. I had lots of critical tasks to work on which at times was pressured but it meant I learnt a huge amount in a short time.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The content of the placement was very relevant to sopme of the topics I had studied, some of which I had not necessarily enjoyed in a uni environment but seeing them in practise really brought a sense of clarity about the theories that lie behind some of the practises.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • We have regular team outings etc (maybe about one every two weeks) and everyone was really friendly. Team meetings are often turned into bake-offs at which everyone brings home baked cakes and we always had a good giggle at the office.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Organisation once I arrived has been very good although it did take a long time to find out once I had the job more info and my contract etc but this was the smae for everyone.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There are loads of different training courses available, some in person and some online, a lot of them are optional so you can take them if you are interested which is good.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    Healthcare from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • A lot of people come back to work on the grad scheme and some people even come back from just being hired in their department.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Fantastic- with 60 other interns in Bracknell, we all lived in halls (which were a bit manky!) to start off with to get to know everyone then moved into houses with friends. There are nights out every week and an intern committee to get involved with.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Fairly expensive place to live but it depends what you are looking for. Most interns live in Reading and either drive or get a lift to work so its not exactly cheap to get to work but Reading is much more exciting than Bracknell so well worth it!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are a lot of good bars in Reading plus a lot of different things to do at the weekend or after work, there is a ski slope, driving range and ice rink next to work, cinemas etc in town.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was always opportunities to get involved in things other than your job, you just had to say!

    5/5
