The Role
I enjoyed working at RBS Commerical banking I gained a genuine insight into the operations of small businesses and as an economist it was interesting to get a view of the economy from a micro level.
My collegue were all fantastic to me, always willing to take time out from their days to talk to me and take me out on meetings.
My line manage gave me an excellent level of support throughout and even prior to my internship. I was given notice of the project I would be working on weeks before I started. Throughout the 10 weeks he was always willing and available to talk to me on any subject.
I was busy for the most part although there were days where I was left in the office to get on with my project which whilst enjoyable could drag on especially when I had little work that I could do on it at that point in time for various reasons.
I was given quite alot of responsibility I attended numerous meetings with clients which i played an active role in. I was given a task to secure new business for the bank and it was taken seriously by my collegues and the work I did was valued.
I gained a great deal from the internship in terms of skills and knowledge. The experience I have gained from my time in commercial banking will help me in my career going forward and should even help me complete the final year of my economics degree this year!
The Company
The atmosphere was really good was a great mix of agegroups, experience levels and personalities. Everyone in the office was welcoming and friendly and that is how I would best describe the overall atmosphere.
Organisation in general was very good. There was a couple of hiccups with my assesment centre that almost resulted on me not getting onto the scheme but the internship itself was very well organised from start to finish.
RBS invested a gread deal in us. The training we recieved from seven city was interesting and informative and will certainly help me going forward. The members of my team gave up alot of time to help me learn and experience things that would enhance my career prospects.

Company Parties/Events
There is wide range of opportunities across the RBSG and I would really liek to work here going forward.
The Culture
There was only 5 of us in the Manchester office but we all got on really well and had a good time together.
Cost of living was very low for me as I stayed with a family friend throughout my internship. I worked in Manchester during my internship so the cost of living overall was likely alot lower than it would have been for any london based internship.
The nightlife in Manchester is exceptional. Though as a student I am still quite picky on the nights I want to go out on and really want to go on student only nights out which are not available over the summer!
There was some good opportunities to get involved with opportunities outside of work especially with the graduates. Went on a young professionals sports day event which was highly enjoyable.
