  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • just looking at pipe dope was a bit dull but once got into the project.... it was actually very intersting

  • BP is a good company to work for where there is a friendly working environment

  • I did't really get involved too much with management, however my liner manager was extremly helpfull for all aspects of my internship

  • I always had work to being doing with extra jobs coming up throughout the placement

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • as my project was more of a research project, i didnt have that much resposibility. however when working offshore i felt i had more, and got more respect from everyone.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am a chemical engineer by background and was looking at mechanical engineering type of stuff.... so i learned alot of information but not relevent to my course. However, this info will be extremly helpful in my future career in the oil and gas industry

  • everyone in the office made you seem welcome....

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I had a bit of a muddle up between working in aberdeen and London but appart from that.... everything was well organised.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • BP sent me offshore which only 2 of us got to do. I already had my training but sending someone offshore is still expensive. I attended presention classes and went to see several vendors which helped in uinderstanding several problems

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Dont seem to pay as well as other operators for their challenge program (after uni)

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Interns stayed in halls and seemed to have a great laugh. Since i am from aberdeen i stayed at home with my parents and missed out a bit on the social seen but no doubt, the "bantar" was good.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • aberdeen wasn't that expensive to work in.... however transport costs in petrol out to dyce was quite alot!

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • night life was good, but not as good as edinburgh. I am prob being biased here as i'm from aberdeen though!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • BP never took us out or anything but the interns organised a few nights out with the challengers (challenger is a program undertaken for the first 3 yeras after graduation)
