The Role
The internship has been a good way to understand how a large company such as BP operates and has given me a chance to use my communication skills to network with a wide range of people in the business.
My colleagues were ever so supportive and they really helped me throughout my time at BP. I felt part of the team and felt my contribution was really appreciated.
My manager was great and we met up over coffee and discussed my progress with my project. They had set up everything in advance of my placement so that I could just start my work.
I was always busy and had something to do. I was working on real projects, making a real difference to the business.
I was left to get on with my own work, manage my own time and take the project as far as I wanted to take it. I felt in control of my own work and managed my internship so that I gained the best experience possible.
The skills that I have developed will really help me with my degree in my final year because I should be able to apply the knowledge I have learnt to my final year project.
The Company
I was suprised to see that the offices were very relaxed and friendly. The offices were open plan so that you could easily find the people you were looking for and could communicate easily to them.
The internship has been running for a number of years and therefore I think BP has everything in place to make it an enjoyable experience.
The company spent a lot of money and time investing in my experience and made it really enjoyable for me.

Although I think BP are a fantastic organisation and I would recommend them to anyone, I have decided that I do not want my career to be in the oil and gas industry. However I hope my next organisation operates like BP because they really are fantastic.
The Culture
I had some lovely nights out, such as going for meals at posh restaurants, watching live music and of course the usual saturday night clubbing.
Aberdeen is reasonable price to live in. My salary easily covered all my costs and fun activities so I was not worried.
Aberdeen has a nice selection of restaurants, bars and clubs, a diverse range appealing to a wide range of people.
Some of the other interns played in a football club mid week, I myself attended a team meal and casino night which was quite fun.
