    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Loved it. Great people and working environment, and I got to work on some genuinely interesting projects.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • After showing that I had the skills and abilities to help people with their tasks, they had no problem coming straight to me with work.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support from my line managers was fantastic. For the most part I was trusted to get on with work but had no issues with asking for help or support when faced with something I had not done before.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I never felt like there was nothing to do, and it was easy to go and ask people for work when my projects were at a stage that didn't require much design input.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Was allowed the freedom to 'get on with work' and deliver tasks with only the necessary input from my superiors. At no point did it feel like 'step by step' instructions were being handed to me to complete tasks like some other placements.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned so much, there's just too much to list here.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • many lovely offices. Lots of great people.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well structured first few months to account for training etc. It 'just worked' for the rest of the year :)

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Participated in some great workshops and activities that I wasn't necessarily required for, but because they were seen as a great opportunity as a designer, and a learning experience for my personal development, I was allowed to attend.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Car

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Difficult but If a position was available, I would not think twice about applying!

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Lots of students on site. Had some great nights out with some of our other colleagues. Plenty of other social activities such as 5-a-side football on Wednesday evening, mountain biking after work on Tuesday.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Leeds is great for students. I lived in Headingley which is pretty much student central, so lots of good quality but reasonably priced accommodation.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Leeds is great for nightlife, from a quiet restaurant meal to a full on club night. Headingley sports some great bars for student night life. Most importantly for me was the live music scene - I went to some amazing gigs during my time in Leeds.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Lots of opportunities such as social sports, sponsored charity events etc.

    3/5
