    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • On daily basis, I have to conduct data analysis on the plant performance. Provide operational performance for the daily morning meetings and and checks all safety alarms for the past 24 hours. Make sure the Power BI report for quality trends of the plant is updated and monitor it to check the quality of the product being produced and if we are within spec.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes. I was responsible for calculating the pressure drop across the whole plant which in turn was used for heat exchanger sizing. I also had to prepare a report which is used on daily basis by the team to check quality of the product being produced and highlight any issues within the process.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • -For the on-boarding process, Unilever team was really responsive and always there to provide help -During the placement, the managers are really friendly and always there to help you, no matter how many questions you ask -Meeting new people within the company helped in providing more insight into job opportunities and what each role does

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Everyone was really helpful and friendly. They understood the fact that you were new and were always there to provide guidance. The whole team got alone really well and were always laughing. Team activities were planned to make sure the team appreciated work and had something else to look forward to except for work.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I had two roles within my placement and both teams were amazing. I feel much more confident in doing presentation and having conversations with people. I feel I have much more knowledge about different roles and better idea of what path to take after I graduate. Within the job, I also had opportunities to travel to different places with my team and understand how places within the same company operate differently.

  • It is a good opportunity to see how one of the biggest consumer goods company operates and keeps its customers happy. Be ready to make a lot of new friends and don't be afraid to ask questions because everyone is extremely friendly.
