The Role
The placement was intresting and working for a defence company is exciting, however there is a lot of computer time and numbers, there is sometimes a lack of stimulating work.
Staff are very friendly and you are considered an equal straight away, your here to work the same as everyone else.
Support is there when you want it, but the company very much focuses on you getting on with the tasks you've been set and not been spoon fed by management.
there was always work to be done, however sometimes it wasn't able to be done due to waiting for material for other departments etc meaning there was occasionally sometime where I was doing more menial tasks.
This is exactly what this company is great for, you are given tasks that actually affect the project, not given toy projects just because your a summer placement
Dramatically enhanced computer skills that I would have lost/not developed further in univerisity.
The Company
Unfortunately the average age of the staff lets this down a bit.
HR really did well here.
Because of the short peroid of employement courses were hardly worth putting me on. There were some introductory classes but they did not add to my knowledge.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Somethings let the company down, but there are a lot of great aspects. However I don't want to limit myself to one employer just yet.
The Culture
Placements were well spread out with little travel. There is some social scene with graduates, like pool tournamounts, if I didn't live with 2 other employees is is doubtful I would see other staff outside of work.
London
Pretty poor tbh.
Again limited due to me only been a summer placement, i did attend the pool competition but couldn't enter because I'd be leaving before the second round.
