    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • During this placement, I was helping the team to build a community of students using the co-work space. For that, I used various tools, such as organising Speed Networking events, engaged with them with Community Co-work newsletter and even prepared a notice board with the latest co-work space news. Every day, I also helped with other administrative tasks that the team needed help with.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed my organisational and time-management skills because working in such a busy and fast-paced environment required a lot of flexibility. I have also learnt how to develop a business partnership, because I reached out to Two Chicks company, and asked them to work on an event with us whilst outlining to them the benefits of this cooperation. Overall, I improved my public speaking and improvisation skills by speaking to many people from various backgrounds.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I believe I was given as much as responsibility as possible by the team, because I could lead events on my own - from the beginning of putting a proposal for the event, to making sure the logistics would work until the actual event delivery. I was able to make decisions on my own, however with the line of the goals and values that the workplace had in place, but on the other hand, I consulted most of my decisions with other members of the team to brainstorm and make sure I stayed on track.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • During the placement, I was given the compulsory training that is to be completed by the University, however, I was able to enrol into any additional training of interest and my personal preferences. I have also been given much support from my team and line manager as part of the role, but I was also able to reach out to a wellbeing team and my Placement Tutor when needed, so I appreciated that the company had support and guidance in place.

  • The company's culture was really positive, and easygoing and I felt as a part of the team straight from the beginning. The company has at their heart the students' success and wellbeing and I believe they try to do their best to support students in their learning and employability journey, which is why I am glad I did the placement there. I felt that I could always ask for guidance, support and help and the atmosphere was pleasant.
