    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Talking with the European markets and our reinsurer to gauge an accurate view of the P&L which I then present in a weekly meeting to the team. Working in the product team to help progress new insurance products through discovery and development into products that are ready to go to market. I build business cases as part of this process to ensure the profitability of upcoming products and promotions.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed my presentation skills through presenting weekly and monthly meetings. I have also developed my communication skills by working in a team based across Europe. Organisation skills have also improved as I have had to balance different tasks and meet deadlines, especially since I am involved in a couple different commitees.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I would say that I have been given responsibility as I am responsible for reporting weekly and monthly numbers, some of which go all the way to ExCo. I also build business cases that determine whether or not projects go ahead and the priority of different projects. I would say that a lot of the responsibility is based on how much you are willing to take on.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I think it can depend on which stream and even specific team you are in. Personally I have found that while professional it is a friendly and supportive atmosphere. There is quite a big wfh culture which I think sometimes can limit networking opportunities however there are always teams call you can join for development and network, especially available to those in youth programs.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Vodafone
  • Initially make sure you have a strong CV that reflects your experience and skills. Most importantly through I would say make sure you recognise your strengths and skills as well as how to demonstrate them. For assessment centers or interviews make sure you are fully prepared, be confident and most importantly yourself. I would also say make sure you understand Vodafone's company culture/values and that this is something you respect, identify with and could positively contribute to.
