    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Couldn't have asked for a better year. Learnt huge amounts, developed all my skills greatly

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team are great! They through you in the deep end, but are there to support you every step of the way

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • All the time, whenever I needed support I was given it. My manager always makes time to review my work on a weekly basis - keeps me on track and ensures all my work is to the highest standard

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very - but that's because I wanted to be. You have to be proactive and ask for work sometimes, and its then when you will soon realize you have plenty to do as your help is always welcome!

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A great deal - it was only by proving myself that more and more responsibility was given to me. E.g. I managed my whole teams presence at HP's largest event of the year - one of the biggest Revenue generates for our team across the fiscal year

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Hugely - I have been able to work on a large variety of my skills, with that I then selected particular areas to focus on - this allowed me to really develop my skills to a high level.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Work-hard, play-hard - In the office everyone is working hard, but then you get to spend time in meetings with your team enjoying what you do best. Some days will not be as fun as others but that's natural - its the more exciting days that make your work worth it!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised - from my recruitment to my role within HP - all ran smoothly.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Meeting on a weekly basis with most of my team, including my manager means that I felt HP were really helping me to develop. I did lots of training at the beginning and throughout my year so always felt there was room to keep developing.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Good to some degree - but it very much differs from one department to the next.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes! Lots of intern socials & inter-company socials where other placement companies come along too which was great fun!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Reasonable - typical student pricing as Reading is a Uni town

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good - its more to do with who you are out with rather than where you go..but Reading has a fair few bars/clubs to choose from.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yeah - depends on what you have in mind I guess. - Local sports teams etc are easy to locate.

    3/5
