Overview
during my time at Arcadis, I have worked on 4 different projects with a range of roles. I have co-authored a geotechnical design report, summarised information from borehole logs and ground investigation reports, I have conducted settlement analysis using Pdisp models and calculated bearing capacities. My day-to-day would consist of completing set tasks and liasing with my project groups, I also completed training modules and attended meetings.
Skills
I have gained confidence in working online, including communicating on Microsoft teams. I have also developed skills for excel and word through project work. I have been taught how to use various software including OpenGround and Pdisp. I have developed my listening, communciation and collaboration skills through frequent communcation with project teams and my line manager
Responsibilities
I feel that I was given a lot of responsibility and I enjoyed that. The most responsibility I was given, was co-authoring the Geotechnical Design Report, this was a big task but I had a lot of guidance. I was invited to most meetings and copied into most emails.
Support & Guidance
There were a lot of people I could contact, both in and outside of the office. I received the most support when co-authoring the report, I needed to use a lot of new calculations and methods of analysis for this but I had a lot of fun working on it.
Culture
I liked the company culture, I think there was a lot of emphasis on socials and collaborating.
Your Impressions
I took part in weekly yoga sessions held in the office and I attended all 'celebration fridge' socials. I enjoyed being a part of the office and team environment here. I enjoyed the early careers modules along with the meetings
